Different retreats bring together different practices depending on the destination and theme. These are some of the practices and places at the heart of the Peace Center journeys.
Theme
The Path of Love
The Path of Love is one of the strongest themes within the Peace Center collection. The journey explores the teachings and stories surrounding Rumi and Shams and introduces participants to aspects of Sufi spirituality.
The Path of Love is presented not simply as a historical journey but as an inner exploration. Meditation, Muraqaba, Dhikr, Huzoor, whirling and Sufi-inspired movement are part of the experience, together with sacred music, rhythm, poetry and movement.
The journey explores the connection between the body, breath, heart and spirit. Rumi’s poetry and teachings provide a central inspiration, together with the stories of Shams of Tabriz and other figures associated with the Sufi tradition.
The experience is intended to allow participants to discover Turkey while simultaneously exploring questions of love, presence, awareness and inner transformation.
Practice
Energetic Body Realignment (EBR)
Energetic Body Realignment appears across several Peace Center programs. It is a movement sequence drawing from Qigong, Hatha yoga, martial arts and physiotherapeutic approaches.
It is particularly associated with the needs of people living modern sedentary lifestyles: people who spend long periods sitting, working at computers or driving. The practice works with movement and awareness and can be incorporated into everyday life.
In the Andalusia men’s retreat, EBR is a central morning practice, combined with meditation and Qigong to create a program focused on reconnecting with the body and developing a regular personal practice. Participants receive material that allows them to continue practising after the retreat.
Practice
Asha Meditation
Asha meditation is included in the Andalusia and Tunisia programs. The practice is presented as an opportunity to develop greater awareness and a quieter relationship with the mind, and participants can continue exploring it after returning home.
Practice
Music, Sound and Voice
Music is an important part of the Peace Center philosophy. Different retreats incorporate music, rhythm, voice, sound baths, musical healing evenings, sacred music and chanting.
Music can be used to support meditation, movement, emotional expression and connection.
Place
The Garden of Nâm
The Garden of Nâm in Níjar, Andalusia, is one of the places associated with the Peace Center experience. It is a peaceful garden environment with traditional Andalusian-style accommodation and mountain surroundings.
The location provides access to the village of Níjar and the surrounding mountains, and the landscape extends towards the Cabo de Gata area. The garden offers a quieter environment where participants can practise, rest, walk and spend time in nature.
